LA Galaxy vs Seattle Sounders
Sunday, October 28, 2012
The Home Depot Center
Kick-off: 6:00 p.m
The regular season comes to an end on Sunday as the LA Galaxy hosts the Seattle Sounders at the Home Depot Center. Already in playoffs and locked in fourth place, the Galaxy will try to close out the season with a victory and build momentum for their knockout game against the Vancouver Whitecaps the following week.
Los Angeles and Seattle have met twice this season, with the Sounders winning both games at CenturyLink Field. Before the two meetings this season, the Galaxy had not been defeated by the Sounders since August 2009, when Seattle got a 2-0 victory at the Home Depot Center. Now, not only has LA not been able to defeat the Sounders this season, but the Galaxy has been outscored 6-0. After their 4-0 loss to Seattle in August the Galaxy would go ten games unbeaten in all competitions, eventually locking a spot in the playoffs and advancing out of CONCACAF Champions League group stage in the process. The streak came to an end on October 6th when the Galaxy lost 2-1 at home to Real Salt Lake.
Injuries have been affecting the Galaxy in the final stretch of the season. While Todd Dunivant returned from injury this past Sunday against San Jose in the 2-2 draw, the Galaxy was still without three of the team’s most important players: AJ DeLaGarza, Landon Donovan, and David Beckham. DeLaGarza will most likely return for playoffs, while Donovan and Beckham might be available for the game on Sunday. David and Landon were amongst the group that stayed in the US while a younger squad traveled to El Salvador to face Isidro Metapan in the Galaxy’s final CCL group stage meeting. While AJ DeLaGarza is listed as “out” in the injury report, Donovan and Beckham are “questionable”, both taking part in the Galaxy’s training this week.
Come out to the final tailgate of the regular season! Event info is posted in the “Events” tab in the group’s facebook page.
