Champions: Back 2 Back

CHAMPIONS!

LA added their fourth star after a great comeback on Saturday afternoon at the HDC. At the 12th minute LA should have been 1-up but Donovan missed an open net goal. LA struggled for possession in the first half and it got worse right before halftime when Houston was able to score one on a quick counter-attack.

The second half saw a much better LA side and just 2 minutes in Robbie Keane had already found the back of the net, but was in offside position. LA kept pressing on and in the 60th minute the Champions finally found the equalizer. It came after a beautiful cross from Juninho which Omar Gonzalez was able to head in past the Houston keeper. Just two minutes later Keane again scored on a set piece but the Ref decided to call a foul on Omar, which never existed.

By now Houston was falling apart and you could see another LA goal coming. At the 64th minute, Ricardo Clark and his hand robbed Mike Magee from scoring a bicycle kick game-winning goal. Ref saw it, called the penalty and Donovan finished it. LA was in control of the game and was able to finish strong with another penalty kick goal from Keane.

Everybody did an excellent job on Saturday especially Omar who got the MLS Cup MVP award. Beckham played great in his last LA Galaxy game, his long passes to Keane and Donovan were always a threat and kept Houston on their toes.

We want to say thank you to all the Players, Staff and Front Office for this great year.

Thank you David Beckham for the memories!

  • Keane looked hungry for a goal. He put three in the net, and had a few more close opportunities.
