LA Galaxy vs CS Herediano

The Home Depot Center
Kick-off: 7:00 p.m
It’s a must-win game this Wednesday night when the LA Galaxy hosts CS Herediano in the second leg of CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals. Last week the Galaxy traveled to Costa Rica and managed to return to Los Angeles with a 0-0 result. Not only did LA have to deal with Herediano’s turf, they also had to put up with a “hostile” crowd, which launched liquids, coins, and spit in the direction of Galaxy players. Once again, CONCACAF’s officiating problems made an appearance, after Mike Magee had a goal disallowed after he was called offside when replays showed he really wasn’t. The goal wouldn’t have only given LA the victory, but an important away goal as well. In the late stages of the game, once again, a questionable call was made against the Galaxy when Sean Franklin was accused of committing a foul in the box on Herediano’s Ismael Gomez, who was awarded a penalty kick. Replays showed that Gomez went down with very minimal contact- a weak call for a game in such an important stage. Gomez stepped up to take the kick himself but would hit the cross bar, sentencing the 0-0 result.
With the result the Galaxy has to come out victorious on Wednesday night in order to advance to the semifinals. A 0-0 tie would send the game into overtime and possibly penalty kicks, but any other tie or a Herediano victory would send the Costa Rican team through to the next round.
The Galaxy is possibly 90 minutes away from reaching CCL semifinals for the first time since the new format was introduced. With no MLS game this past weekend, LA will be fully rested and recovered to face Herediano, who arrived to Los Angeles Sunday night.
Aggregate: LA Galaxy 0-0 CS Herediano
THIS IS LA!
