Colorado Rapids vs LA Galaxy
Saturday, July 29, 2013
Kick-off: 4:00 p.m
After a 2-1 victory at home against Vancouver, the LA Galaxy will once again hit the road to visit the Colorado Rapids this Saturday. The Galaxy, who have not been doing too good on the road, will look to obtain a second victory in a row and continue climbing in the Western Conference standings.
The Galaxy did what they had been doing all season long after a tough defeat; bounce back with a victory. The Whitecaps took the lead against LA in the first half but goals from Homegrown players Jose Villarreal and Gyasi Zardes gave the Galaxy a come from behind victory. With Robbie Keane sidelined it was important for the youngsters to step up, and they both did. Not only did the Galaxy youngsters come through, the defense was also able to close out a game in the final minutes, something they’ve been struggling with all season long.
This weekend the task will be no easier for the Galaxy. Not only is Robbie Keane still doubtful for the game, but Robbie Rogers is as well. Both had been in the starting eleven for previous games, but last week those looking for playing time made a case for themselves. One of those was Pablo Mastroeni, who will be playing his previous club. While both Robbie’s are doubtful for the game, a player who’ll be missing for sure is Omar Gonzalez. Tommy Meyer is likely to step in for him and accompany AJ DeLaGarza as the centerbacks for the game.
Colorado is currently three points away from second place in the Western Conference. The Rapids have gone unbeaten in their last five games, and behind Deshorn Brown and Atiba Harris they are making a push to the top of the standings. In their first meeting of the season the Galaxy defeated the Rapids 1-0 via a penalty kick goal from Mike Magee. At home the Rapids have gone undefeated in their three previous games, and will look to keep the streak going against LA.
