LA Galaxy vs Columbus Crew

Thursday, July 4, 2013

StubHub Center

Kick-off: 7:30 p.m

The LA Galaxys return to the StubHub Center to host the Columbus Crew this Thursday night. After another defeat on the road the Galaxy will look to bounce back against the Eastern Conference opponent, who has suffered in their past few games.

It looked like everything was going the Galaxy’s way against San Jose this past Saturday. Up 2-0 late in the second half and up a man, the Galaxy unbelievably surrendered three goals- two in stoppage time- to fall to the Earthquakes 2-3. With the collapse from Saturday, the Galaxy has now given up eleven goals in the final ten minutes of a game, seven of those coming in stoppage time.

There will be changes in the Galaxy line-up for the upcoming games. Landon Donovan has joined the USMNT, who will be playing a friendly Friday night and the Gold Cup after. However, the Galaxy will once again have Jose Villarreal and Oscar Sorto available after their participation in the U-20 World Cup.

The season hasn’t gone all that well for the Crew either. Currently seventh in the Eastern Conference, the Crew has won just one game out of the last seven played. The Crew is coming off two straight defeats, and will be looking to avoid a third straight against the Galaxy.
