LA Galaxy vs FC Dallas
Wednesday, May 21, 2014
Kick-off: 7:30 p.m
After what has felt like an eternity, the LA Galaxy will finally play at StubHub Center on Wednesday night. Coming off yet another disappointing result, the Galaxy will be looking to turn things around when FC Dallas comes to town.
The Galaxy’s four games away from home were filled with disappointed results. Out of a possible twelve points, the Galaxy was only able to earn two, those coming in Vancouver and Portland. Although splitting points away from home would not seem like a terrible result, the circumstances in which the Galaxy walked away with ties do make it seem like it. The Galaxy’s defense gave up late goals in both of those games, and along with the latest defensive mistake this past Saturday, they have not had a good showing as of late.
The backline is not the only concern for the Galaxy. It has seemed like if Robbie Keane is not scoring, nobody else is putting the ball in the back for LA. The opportunities have been there, but a lack of a finishing touch in the final third have prevented the Galaxy from earning points. Due to a lack of goals and plenty of defensive blunders, the Galaxy is currently on a four-game winless streak, the last victory coming in LA’s last game at home over a month ago.
Although the Galaxy has played fewer games than anyone else in the Western Conference, LA is sitting in last place in the West. The Galaxy has had only two victories in eight games, a disappointing percentage. FC Dallas, on the other hand, is sitting in third place in the standings. Dallas’ good start to the season has kept them there, because ultimately they’ve had a poor run as well. After starting the season off with a five-game unbeaten run, Dallas has not recorded a victory in the last five games. Away from home, Dallas has won just one out of five matches, something the Galaxy should take advantage of.
