Charity:
This year we will be switching gears to assist Children’s Hospital of Orange County’s Child life department. This department provides entertainment for children during long stays in the hospital. CHOC housed ACB’s very own Hayden during treatment. Items such as books and games are needed.

This is Hayden’s story:
At 18 months old, Hayden was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Hayden recently celebrated his 10th birthday in March. He has been in remission for almost 7 years. Late last March a regularly scheduled blood test indicated he may have the Leukemia again. A bone marrow biopsy shortly after confirmed the APML had returned. Hayden went through a 14 week period of daily Arsenic Trioxide infusions to get his blood back into remission. On August 16 he underwent a bone marrow transplant. He is currently being treated in the oncology intensive care unit. The road to recovery will be a long one for Hayden. The nurses and doctors are taking very good care of Hayden, but he misses everything outside of this place. It puts a smile on his face when he hears from his friends who can’t wait to see him again. Hayden loves soccer! He loves to play, train, and watch soccer. If he isn’t playing or watching soccer, chances are he’s still thinking about soccer.

We ask all of our members to join us on October 1st as “Hayden City Brigade”. Our goal for the night is to bring Hayden and his family joy and give them our full 90 with some revised chants made for Hayden.

VAMOS ANGELINOS! WE ALL CHEER, WE ALL CHEER FOR HAYDEN!

On Tuesday, the LA Galaxy travels south of the border to play in their first away game of this edition of the CCL. The Galaxy is currently in first place of Group A, with six points after two games. In their previous games they defeated Motagua (Honduras) and Alajuelense (Costa Rica), both with a 2-0 score at the Home Depot Center. Morelia, with three points, has had one win and one loss through two games. The loss came against Alajuelense in their first game, while they were able to defeat Motagua 4-0 in the second round.

Both teams are coming off 1-0 wins in their local tournaments. LA defeated Colorado 1-0, maintaining themselves in first place in the Western Conference and the league. Morelia defeated Cruz Azul, also 1-0, with a goal that came in stoppage time. Morelia currently stands in tenth place after seven games, having won three games, tying one, and losing three.

Donovan Ricketts returned and got a clean sheet against Colorado, but goalkeeping is the least of our problems. After a notable performance against the Rapids, does Cardozo see some minutes against the Mexican side? Juninho won’t be available after receiving a red card against Alajuelense. After losses from FC Dallas and Seattle this weekend, LA has more breathing room in the league standings. Next opponent: mighty Vancouver. A win here would make the CCL much easier for LA, and would be a huge boost to the players’ confidence. Having played two games last week and playing two this week, who do we expect to play on Tuesday?
