LA Galaxy @ Montreal Impact (5/12)

    LA Galaxy @ Montreal Impact
    Saturday, May 12, 2012
    Olympic Stadium
    Kick-off: 1:00 p.m.
ACB Viewing Party: Ye Olde Kings Head

The Galaxy continues to struggle. This past weekend LA fell at home to New York, and despite dominating possession for most of the game the Galaxy was unable to find the back of the net. The Galaxy are now winless in their last three games, with the most recent two resulting in defeats. Under Bruce Arena, LA has never lost three games in a row.

The Galaxy offense has been struggling all season long. In the past 180 minutes LA has only scored once, totaling eleven goals in nine games. Robbie Keane, the Galaxy’s leading scorer with three goals so far, has not scored since the game against New England on March 31st, going scoreless for six consecutive games. Edson Buddle has an even longer streak, having not scored a goal since the season opener on March 10th. After the game against New York Arena stated “We haven’t found a player that can consistently get us goals. There have been plays there where the ball has to end up in the back of the net and it isn’t and it’s costing us dearly.” And he’s right, while the Galaxy has been unable to keep a clean sheet through every game the team has played, opportunities to score have been created, but the killer instinct in the final third isn’t there.

Montreal, undefeated at home so far this season, host the LA Galaxy this Saturday. The Impact are unbeaten in their last three games and have a two-game winning streak. To the surprise of many, Montreal defeated Sporting KC this past weekend, handing them their first loss at home. Montreal will face the Galaxy days after having traveled to Toronto for their second leg meeting in the Amway Canadian Championship semifinals.

    LA Galaxy:
    10 points, 11 GF, 14 GA
    3-5-1, 7th in Western Conference
    Home Record: 2-3-1
    Away Record: 1-2-0

    Montreal Impact:
    11 points, 11 GF, 15 GA
    3-5-2, 5th in Eastern Conference
    Home Record: 2-0-1
    Away Record: 1-5-1

I hope things shape up for the Galaxy in this match. Facing Ricketts will be difficult for a few of the players but as a team they need to produce in the top third... Hopefully we see one of these results: 0-0, 1-0, 1-1, 2-1. I want to see 3 points but I expect at least a single point. Olympic Stadium is loud and will be a test for the G's here's to hoping a good result.

LA Galaxy defender A.J. DeLaGarza admitted he has driven himself crazy trying to come up with reasons why the defending MLS Cup champions are wallowing in the depths of the Western Conference
When I read this on the LA Galaxy website, I was thinking "you are not the only one"...

Hopefully they can figure it out... In the photo above they look like they have already lost before the game has even started. It seems like what is lacking is an intangible thing. Whether it be the team chemistry or the lack of determination and passion, the Gs need to step it up if they don't want to stay at the bottom of the standings.

montreal is riding a really good wave of form, beating portland and kansas city in KC. They are good tough sort of team, a perfect test.
Buddle needs to get it together, he looks years off the pace.

    Todd Dunivant:
“He’d certainly like to get a shutout against us,” Galaxy defender Todd Dunivant said. “Knowing Donovan he’s going to come to play. He is one of the best in the league, without a doubt. He was a huge part of this team for three years and a huge part of our championship run.”

If our LAG the defending MLS Cup and two years in a row SS champion can't get 3 points against a first year expansion club it's time to tear the team apart and start all over. No excuses, don't give a shit if Cech is in goal this is an expansion team and they should mop the floor with them.

Last week a few people were calling the Pink Cows match a "statement" game and this team made their statement. So that makes this week a "decision" game, if we show as poorly in expansion Montreal as we have most of the season, it is time to blow this thing up.

I love Bruce, but if we are questioning desire, passion, heart, and tactics then these players have quit on him and he has to go. We also have 5-6 players that can follow him out of town if we don't gird our loins and play like men!

Come on boys save your manager, save your season, rescue the hearts of your supporters! G's win 2-nil!!!

Early goal not doing us any favors today. Weird choice of having Dan Keat in the back cost us that point... but its still early....

New lineup, same bullshit. Here's to hoping for a better 2nd half (holding up a Sierra Nevada @ Ye Olde King's Head) . . .

first and second halves were two completely different stories..too bad the galaxy decided to show up for only 45 minutes.

the goal began with a long ball from the back.. Keat's being blamed for the goal, but if AJ jumps up with his defender that ball doesn't get through. I'm not a fan of Keat being used as a cb outside of reserve games, but he shouldn't get all the blame. Also, I feel like Perk should have came out further while Arnaud took a slightly heavy touch, he could've forced Arnaud to make a quicker decision.

    11 points out of 30...

Win, lose, or draw, watching (and listening) to sixty thousand fans for an MLS game is just surreal....
