LA Galaxy vs Philadelphia Union (7/4)

    LA Galaxy vs Philadelphia Union
    Wednesday, July 4, 2012
    Home Depot Center
    Kick-off: 7:30 p.m

The Galaxy’s winning streak came to an end this past Saturday as LA fell to San Jose 4-3 in another edition of the California Clasico. For the third consecutive game Landon Donovan scored for the Galaxy, but the defense wasn’t able to hold the lead and allowed three unanswered goals to leave Stanford with no points. Another busy week for the Galaxy leaves them with little time to think about the loss, as on Wednesday LA hosts the Philadelphia Union at the Home Depot Center.

Much like the Galaxy, the Union has left much to be desired in their conference. Philadelphia is currently second to last in the Eastern Conference, only above Toronto FC. Both LA and Philadelphia are coming off defeats, difference being the Union has won just three times this season. Philadelphia has won just once on the road, while LA will look to continue to turn things around at home. The Galaxy will be without midfielder David Beckham, who has a one-game suspension to serve due to yellow card accumulation. Juninho was also booked on Saturday, and is now a yellow card away from having to serve a suspension himself.

Get to the tailgate early and celebrate Independence Day with ACB. More information can be found here.

    LA Galaxy:
    20 points, 25 GF, 27 GA
    6-9-2, 6th in Western Conference
    Home Record: 4-4-1
    Away Record: 2-5-1

    Philadelphia Union:
    11 points, 13 GF, 17 GA
    3-9-2, 9th in Eastern Conference
    Home Record: 2-4-1
    Away Record: 1-5-1

    THIS IS LA!

I have a cold, but I still can't wait to party hard at this match. We should take this game, but given Lopes' spot in our back line and Saunders' sketchy goal keeping Saturday I'm a bit hesitant to say this is three points in the bag.
An exclamation one might say if one were to meet a dragon: "Draco!!!! Strectus, Strectus, Strectus. Mortimus Sum!"
Dragon!!!! Shit, Shit, Shit. I'm going to die!

Defense needs to step up and get it together..they've been giving up too many easy goals all season long and now that we're getting into the busiest part of the schedule they can't be doing that anymore..if the season ended today the Galaxy wouldn't make it into the playoffs..and yes, there are plenty of games left, but they are all very close to each other..plus ccl will be starting soon and player rotation will be important. Good news: expect Omar to be back sometime this month!

Saunders didn't have a good game on Saturday, I'm sure he'll be back to normal on Wednesday. This is a game the Galaxy should win..we're getting goals, but we're allowing a lot too.

Omar Gonzalez has been removed from the Disabled List! Doesn't mean he'll play..but he is eligible for tomorrow!

It would be nice to see him on the bench, getting back into the game day routine.

My guess is Bruce will put him in for the last 15-20 minutes so he can get a feel for live game play after being out for so many months. Again, it's just a guess.

It’s good to not think about (Saturday’s) game so much, learn from it and move on to the next game, I think it’s good we have a game so soon on Wednesday.

its a game the galaxy should win, the union are full of inexperienced players and that is leading them to making young mistakes, perfect for a team of the galaxys caliber to feast on. Easy win

    also san jose lost tonight
    yay!

It would've been an easy win if Keane was in form yesterday. He had a handful of opportunities. >.>

Easy three points dropped to the second-to-last team in the East. Fucking embarrassing.

Apparently, it was so embarrassing that the players couldn't even come by and thank us. >.>
If they'd actually feel embarrassed, they'd find a way of closing out games. Didn't LA win the championship like that last year? -.-
