LA Galaxy @ Chicago Fire (7/8)
LA Galaxy @ Chicago Fire
Sunday, July 8, 2012
Toyota Park
Kick-off: 12:00 p.m
ACB Viewing Party: Auld Dubliner

After yet another frustrating loss, the LA Galaxy is back on the road this weekend to visit the Chicago Fire. Wasted opportunities in front of goal and bad defending in stoppage time led to the Galaxy’s fifth loss at home this past Wednesday, which also happened to be the first in history against the Union. The return of Omar Gonzalez was probably the only positive thing to take out of Wednesday’s game, as LA is still sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference.
Sunday’s game against the Fire will be the first of three for the Galaxy on the road. Chicago Fire is fourth place in the Eastern Conference, and has lost only once at home this season. After it seemed like things were starting to turn around with a three-game winning streak the Galaxy now find themselves on back-to-back losses. After returning from the Euros and scoring on his first game back, Robbie Keane has been unable to score in the past couple of games. With four goals in twelve games played, Keane has been a disappointment so far this season. David Beckham, who served a one-game suspension against Philadelphia, will also miss Sunday’s game against the Fire. Beckham was given an additional one-game suspension by the Disciplinary Committee for his “confrontational and provocative behavior” during and after the loss to San Jose.
LA Galaxy:
20 points, 26 GF, 29 GA
6-10-2, 6th in Western Conference
Home Record: 4-5-1
Away Record: 2-5-1
Chicago Fire:
28 points, 21 GF, 19 GA
8-5-4, 4th in Eastern Conference
Home Record: 5-1-2
Away Record: 3-4-2
THIS IS LA!

I'm hoping LA can leave this game with a point. Oduro, Nyarko, and Pappa speed will be a big problem for our defense.

Gonzalez flew with the team to Chicago, wonder if he starts again on Sunday.

Great to get a win and great for Robbie both for confidence and because it was his birthday.
Being back in the top 5 is nice too, lets hope we can continue our climb or at least stay in playoff territory.////////////////////////////// L A | ★ ★ ★ ★ | Galaxy //////////////////////////////

Very different performance from Wedneday's defeat but a great win nonetheless!! Keane really should have had a hat-trick and Donovan was a breath of fresh air in the second half. Good win and good morale booster after losing two, especially going into Portland on Saturday...very tough place to play.
