CCL: LA Galaxy vs PR Islanders (8/26)

LA Galaxy vs Puerto Rico Islanders
    Wednesday, August 29, 2012
    Home Depot Center
    Kick-off: 7:00 p.m

Two years after the Islanders eliminated the Galaxy in the Preliminary Round of the CONCACAF Champions League, LA and Puerto Rico will meet again on Wednesday night in Group 5 action. The Galaxy currently leads the group on goal difference after the 5-2 victory over El Salvador’s Isidro Metapan. Puerto Rico, who were defeated in their first appearance this tournament, need a victory if they want to stay in the race as only the group leader advances to the knockout stages.

The Galaxy might not have any of their three Designated Players available. LA will have to play without Robbie Keane, who received a red card during last week’s CCL game. It’s still unknown if Galaxy captain Landon Donovan will make his first appearance of the tournament after missing the game against Metapan due to a hamstring strain, and David Beckham is battling an illness that didn’t let him finish Sunday’s game against Dallas.

Wednesday’s game will be the last home game for the Galaxy in the group stages, as both of the following games will be on the road. It is important that the Galaxy get three points and put themselves in a good position before they resume play away from the Home Depot Center.

    Group 5:

Team | Points | Games Played | Goal Difference

    LA Galaxy: 3 | 1 | + 3

    I. Metapan: 3 | 2 | -1

    PR Islanders: 0 | 1 | -2

Villareal most likely gets the start up top with Magee. Jimenez, Juninho and Sarvas in the middle with Becks if he is feeling better. Noonan came off the bench yesterday and will probably get some playing time too. I think Donovan should come off the bench only if he is needed, but he should probably rest some more until he is 100%

Lets go guns blazing and get those 3 points at home! Its time for some VENGEANCE and it starts with the ACB , the elders should encourage STH to put their free tickets to use. In my opinion villareal should get the start up top and im really hoping LD get some playing time. Im more worried about who the back 4 will be. Actually i would like to see Meyer get a start at CB for this game.

    revenge.

I think Villarreal starts, he's had good moments and made an impact on Sunday, let the guy play.

Sarvas, Juninho, Jimenez and Stephens in the midfield would be my guess

    the regulars.

    dunivant delagarza gonzalez franklin
    saunders

the important thing is to capture all points possible, the sooner the better. hopefully the Galaxy will be qualified into the next round before the final game, there they can change the line-up and give other players some time.

I think this will be an intense game, everyone has their minds set on revenge and I feel like the CCL games have a bit of a special feel to them, especially for the players.

How will we know where to sit if its just GA and no assigned supporter seating?

John said he heard section 114, all I've heard is only the west side of the stadium will be open.

i'm guessing it'll be like the morelia game, where only half the stadium will be open and the cameras will be on the opposite side. the thing about that game is that tickets weren't checked, so it was pretty much a free for all (in our section, at least). there were morelia fans there but eventually they left. acb facebook/twitter should clarify what section we'll be in.

i doubt we'll have a big crowd, but everyone should try to get in early. 7 p.m kick-off for these games, not 7:30

Got an email...we'll be in section 120 and LARS will be in section 117. Half stadium, at least we'll be close to home.

We can just pretend we are in the 121... Will we be coordinating with LARS on chants like an away game or will it be business as usual?

Cross stadium chants will be uhh less cross stadium haha
