LA Galaxy @ Colorado Rapids
Sunday, September 30, 2012
Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
Kick-off: 4:00 p.m
ACB Viewing Party: The Olde Ship

On Sunday the LA Galaxy hit the road for the second-to-last time this season. With only four games remaining and despite having a spot in the playoffs secured, all games are “must-wins” for LA, currently in second place in the Western Conference. The Galaxy will face the Rapids for the third and final time in 2012, and are looking to go a perfect three for three against Colorado.
This past weekend the Galaxy clinched a playoff spot with the 4-2 victory over Toronto FC. Continuing their great forms, Juninho and Robbie Keane each had a brace, getting to 7 and 14 goals, respectively. The defense gave up 2 goals, breaking the streak of 490+ minutes without conceding. Both goals given up were a bit unfortunate, finding their way into the goal after deflections.
The Rapids will be desperately looking for a win and nothing less on Sunday, otherwise they won’t be making the playoffs this year. With 30 points in 30 games, Colorado is 8 points behind Vancouver, who currently holds the last playoffs spot. The Rapids’ remaining games are against San Jose, Chivas USA, and the Houston Dynamo.
The Galaxy will be looking to stretch the unbeaten run to ten games in all competitions this weekend. The return of David Beckham is a possibility, as he has returned to full training with the team. Beckham missed the past three games nursing an ankle injury. Defender AJ DeLaGarza and midfielder Marcelo Sarvas are still on warning, meaning a yellow card will see them suspended for the Galaxy’s next game, which happens to be against Real Salt Lake.

09-26-2012 #4more hereNot only did the Galaxy concede a goal late in the first half, but there were a few nerve-wracking moments when a deflection led to Luis Silva’s goal in the 86th minute of play, cutting a 3-1 lead to a single goal. Following training on Tuesday, defender A.J. DeLaGarza admitted to getting nervous when TFC pulled to within a goal.
“For a little bit,” said DeLaGarza. “I was thinking that this is looking like earlier in the season. It comes to your mind that if we give up this third goal then it’s going to feel like that.
“But we are a totally different team. There were two goals off deflections that could have been prevented, but nevertheless Robbie had a fantastic goal to give us our forth and a little bit of cushion.”

If AJ gets a yellow in any remaining game it will be a huge loss. AJ has been our most consistent and best player all season long.
What's the difference between a chimichanga, a chalupa, and a tostada? Call me back asap . . . it's urgent.

Do the cards carry over into the playoffs?
If they do, AJ should probably just get the suspension over with now.

haha i'm thinking that if AJ has to get suspended i would rather he get his yellow vs colorado. RSL looks like the weakest of the three left

09-27-2012 #11more here“It's better,” Beckham told MLSsoccer.com by phone on Wednesday. “Still a little bit of discomfort, but it's good to be back on the field. [I was out] three weeks in the end. I wasn't expecting that, but I'm back now.
“I hope [I can play in Colorado]. I hope so. Trying to get my fitness back – I was working on fitness while I was injured, but nothing, obviously, like playing games and being in training. Hopefully, I can get out on the field and stay fit this week and be involved [against the Rapids].”

Just saw this... Looks like it will be another round of securing points with mixed team. I think Chippen will start and continue to get minutes... Arena may rest some to prepare for the upcoming games. Beckham in for Chippen 2nd half?

Bring jimenez back to starting 11. This game, like the next ccl game, should be a game to test our depth. Throw in some of the young guns in there.
