LA Galaxy vs Real Salt Lake (10/6)
LA Galaxy vs Real Salt Lake
Saturday, October 6, 2012
Home Depot Center
Kick-off: 6:00 p.m

There are just three games remaining in the MLS regular season for the LA Galaxy, and on Saturday the defending champions host Real Salt Lake. RSL is currently two points above the Galaxy, occupying second place in the Western Conference. Already qualified to CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals, the LA Galaxy will now focus on finishing the regular season in good form.
This past Sunday the Galaxy played the Rapids to a 1-1 draw in Commerce City, Colorado. A draw on the road left LA in third place and ended the Galaxy’s aspirations to winning a third consecutive Supporters’ Shield, but the result is not what Galaxy fans are talking about. Defender AJ DeLaGarza suffered an injury in the first half that left him unable to continue in the match. Reports have gone out saying AJ will likely be sidelined for a month and therefore miss what is left of the regular season. DeLaGarza had played nearly every game this season for the Galaxy, becoming one of LA’s most consistent players. Rookie defender Tommy Meyer replaced DeLaGarza and along with Omar Gonzalez, Sean Franklin, Todd Dunivant, and Josh Saunders managed to keep the game leveled. Christian Wilhelmsson missed the match due to an ankle sprain, but David Beckham made his first appearance in nearly a month. This was the first time all 3 of LA’s Designated Players played at the same time since the 4-0 defeat to Seattle back in early August. The Galaxy has gone unbeaten for 10 games in all competitions since then.
The Galaxy and Real Salt Lake met twice earlier this season, each taking 3 points at the others’ stadium. RSL defeated the Galaxy at the season opener in Carson, 1-3 the final result. The Galaxy, struggling at the time, came back from a 0-2 deficit and defeated RSL 3-2 at Rio Tinto Stadium. This final game will determine who takes the season series, but most importantly, second place in the Western Conference is on the line.

I'm feeling nervous about this game. It was already going to be a tough match, but now without AJ it's going to be really tough. He's been our best player on D all year long, and to have him miss 3 games against our biggest competition in the west is going to suck. Rsl is coming into this game with lots of confidence after beating cusa 4-0, including saborio's hat trick, while LA comes into this game with a draw against Colorado. Hopefully the boys use that to get motivated and beat rsl. I'm hoping for one of our dps to miss this game seeing how the team does a lot better with only 2 out of 3 dps playing. I'm thinking a tie or a one goal victory by either team.
Saunders - Franklin - Omar - Meyer - Todd - Chippen - Juninho - Sarvas - Magee - Keane - Donovan (Stephens, Buddle, and Jimenez get subbed in)What's the difference between a chimichanga, a chalupa, and a tostada? Call me back asap . . . it's urgent.

Don't forget I am going to smoke pork to raise money for streamers for the last home match of the regular season. I don't want to hear I/we ate on the way. Come hungry with cash.

Meyer was playing in that 3-1 loss to RSL in the home opener.
Lopes played in the 3-2 come-from-behind win at RSL
Just found it interesting, means nothing though..I'd still prefer Meyer over Boyens/Lopes
Another variable: bringing Franklin in as a cb and having Jimenez play rb (he's played that position in reserve games)..Jordan's also played rb

Meyer/Jimenez are my preferred replacements... Any idea if Wilhelmsson will play?

10-04-2012 #10“I learned a lot in those first couple games that I played,” Meyer admitted on Tuesday. “I made some mistakes and the only thing that you can do is learn from those after those couple games that I wasn’t playing for a while, I had a talk with the coaches and they told me what I needed to work on. I thought that I improved on the little things they wanted me to do.”More on Meyer; update on Leonardo“I’m just ready for whatever gets thrown at me. I think that’s how the whole group’s mentality is. Whomever [Bruce Arena] calls on, you’re ready,” said Meyer. “This is a chance to improve and help the team. Everyone wants to step in and help. You get your chances throughout the year, everyone has had them and hopefully however gets to step in does a good job.”

he'd score a hat trick!
please let wilhemsson be healthy, hes been real promising and adds a big weapon alongside our usual suspects. We need a big game from Juni, which he has been delivering. Its RSL so there is always worry, but I'm not freaked out. A 1-1 draw at altitude is not bad, not good but we did what we could with a poor reffing performance. We have been unstoppable at home since june. 3 points is huge, the DPs will come to play, they understand how big this game is.LET'S GO GALAXY
