The Israeli Premier League (Hebrew: Ligat HaAl, lit. Super League) is an Israeli professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Israeli football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Liga Leumit. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 37 matches each, totalling 296 matches in the season. Most games are played on Saturdays, with a few games played on Sundays and Mondays. It is sponsored by Toto Winner and therefore officially known as Ligat Winner.

Nice thread, definitely can shed some light on your league. Tell you the truth and it's wierd seeing Maccabi tel-aviv is the biggest, I had heard of Haifa and hapoel, but not so much Maccabi tel-aviv. Now I know haha.

Thats because Haifa and Hapoel had big success while the europe competitions and in our league while Maccabi had realy bad years lately, since 2003 we havnt won the League Title, we were in the champions league in 2005 and won the national cup in 2005, and since then were only 2nd/3rd.
although the next year were the favourites, we got the strongest team with the biggest budget (45 Milion$ which is huge budget for our league).

That derby looks like a fun match up.
An exclamation one might say if one were to meet a dragon: "Draco!!!! Strectus, Strectus, Strectus. Mortimus Sum!"
Dragon!!!! Shit, Shit, Shit. I'm going to die!

couple of changes to the league format anounced today, from this year after 30 games the league will split into 2 groups, the championship group and the regelation group, in this group each team will play 7 games ( 37 total) and 3 teams will relegated and 1 club will be promoted from the second league, which means from 2012/13 the league will have only 14 teams in order to make the league smaller but stronger.
the Europa League and Championsleague qualifying draws were today -
Champion League
Maccabi Haifa vs Borac Banja Luka (Bosnia champions)
the games will be played in the 13th july and 20th july
first game at Haifa, second at Bosnia
Europa League
Maccabi Tel-Aviv vs Khazar Lankaran ( Azerbaijan 2nd place)
first game at Azerbaijan, second at Tel-Aviv
the games will be played in 14th july and 21th july
Bney-Yehuda vs Sant Julia (Andorra 2nd place)
first game at Andorra, second at Tel-Aviv
the games will be played in 14th july and 21th july
the israeli teams has to win this round and another one in order to get to the playoffs, this round the israeli teams are big favourites and should win in high results.
from the next round, israeli teams can get teams like Atletico Madrid, PSg (which played against Maccabi last year) and some more from the top of europe.

This is great stuff, you got it all down and in order. Before this the only thing I knew of Isreal for (soccer-wise) was the win over France back in 1993 that shocked the WORLD.
