Damn it. We just lost one of our top youth players (Raul Mendiola) to Man City. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/playe...y-this-weekend. I know our roster is full this year, but we gotta start signing these kids earlier.
What is interesting is that two days ago there was an article in which Klein said that he was not aware of Manchester City taking any interest in the player. http://mlssuperdraft.blogspot.com/20...t-in-raul.html. Maybe this will prompt an earlier signing for U.S. U-17 veteran Mario Rodriguez.“I fell in love with football as I was later to fall in love with women: suddenly, inexplicably, uncritically, giving no thought to the pain or disruption it would bring with it.” -- Nick Hornby, Fever Pitch

Yeah, I read that Klein article and figured Mendiola would stay and that the rumors were...well...just rumors. Apparently he's going though. P.S. His nationality seems sketchy. I'm hoping he becomes a US citizen if he continues on improving.
This question is more for Andy now. Do you think City is a good destination for a 16 year old up and comer? Honestly, they seem to be creating loads of competition all over the pitch with their depth, with a couple of head case strikers mixed in. Doesn't seem like it's a decent spot for a youngster to grow (although the article did mention the possibility of loaning him out for a year to RCD Espanyol). Just interested in your take Andy.An exclamation one might say if one were to meet a dragon: "Draco!!!! Strectus, Strectus, Strectus. Mortimus Sum!"

This just in. LA Galaxy now trying to persuade him to stay by signing him to a deal. Just a little late guys, since the trial seems to be almost finalized.
In the offseason we have to show up to some of these games with numbers and hope that it helps the players feel connected with the Galaxy first team and organization.Last edited by NoahE; 10-04-2011 at 03:08 PM.

Three-Bajen players will be featured this week
This week is visiting three American players Hammarby. There are two young players from LA Galaxy's Academy and a senior professionals with exprience from the Bundesliga and Portuguese top League. The trio finishes the stay with participating in a training match against Älvsjö AIK on Saturday.
18-year-old striker Mario Rogriguez and 17-year-old Defender Matthew Tilley belongs to LA Galaxy's Youth Academy, and this week they are in Stockholm to train with Hammarby.
The third player called Kamani Hill, a 25-year-old midfielder with past VfL Wolfsburg and Portuguese Vittoria Guimares, and two caps on the merit list.
The trio will train with Bajen and play Saturday's game against Älvsjö AIK.
-The two academyplayers are here because we want to know them better, they get a chance to see and learn in a new environment. Kamani Hill is a player we want to see and evaluate, "says Gustav Grauers, Hammarbys Sports Director.
The visiting trio is a result of Hammarby have begun to develop cooperation with the minority owner AEG on the sporting side. With LA Galaxy's Chris Klein, who is also a Board member of Hammarby Fotboll AB, is a large network in the US market available.
The idea was that a further senior players would appear on Hammarby this week, but an injury has put an end to his participation.
-But he may come here in January instead, "said Gustaf Grauers.“I fell in love with football as I was later to fall in love with women: suddenly, inexplicably, uncritically, giving no thought to the pain or disruption it would bring with it.” -- Nick Hornby, Fever Pitch

U-12 has reached the semi of the National Cup for the far west region. You do that and you have a really good team. Finals are this Sunday.
