Next seasons away trip dedication.

When Ernie Ragbow a notorious top boy from boro's firm in the late 70's died a couple of years ago, an away trip was organised to aston villa dedicated to his memory and all the old boro skinheads who the vast majority had long since packed in attending games filled 7 coaches and made the trip down, they caused fooken bedlam at a club we had no previous bad feeling or history with, on the villa messageboards things were being said like "what the hell happened, where did all these middle-aged skinheads come from".

I am suggesting we dedicate our target away game to james next season in honour of his memory, i aint suggesting we kick off with san jose or portland or kansas fans, i just think its a nice touch, a sign of respect and something james would have appreciated.

Call it the 2012 james solis memorial road trip or something like that and do everything in the groups power to get as many people to travel as possible.
When the schedule comes out we can pick a venue and maybe come up with a fund raising idea to subsidise some travel costs to ensure everyone who wants to go can go. The old raffle ticket m'larky at tailgates or the selling of hot dogs, cup cakes whatever at a few tailgates to raise some dosh, if people know they are getting the money back in travel subsidies they wont grumble. I wish i was in LA cos i would pick this up as my pet project for the season but alas i can only offer encouragement and the knowledge that i will be there whatever venue is decided on.

Looking at the schedule i think Portland should be the main target game, the flights direct from lax i have seen are 250 bucks, its a saturday night game, we aint been there, the atmosphere is supposed to be second to none, its on NBC so we can show the rest of the MLS that LA travel, and its at the extreme range of driving for people on budgets and not driving in winter conditions. The games july the 14th plenty of time to organise and get a really big crew turned out for this one. I am gonna go to kansas as well if a few are interested but i think portland in july is the one the main focus should be on, book 50 seats on a plane we should get a discount and plenty of bars and cheap hotels next to the stadium, whatever venue you guys decide on i am up for it. We might get over 100 turnout for this game if some of the galaxians jump on board and we put the word about to all galaxy fans when decided.

Last year LARS had about 100 at Portland, we had 4 and the Galaxians had 4. The feeling I'm getting from my LARS spies is that they'll be targeting Montreal, leaving Portland for us! I think we do 100 EASY, I'm thinking more like 250.

I say we advertise the shit out of the Portland trip!!! When I say advertise I mean update the ACB facebook status once a week to let people know, get the word out in fliers at tailgates and games and just keep the buzz going. We could even hit up a few of the official Galaxy away game viewing parties and let those fans know that we are planning a massive trip to Portland. Like Eric said, the game isnt until July so we have PLENTY of time to get organized and get numbers. Fuckin hell, if LARS can get 100 up there I dont see why we cant!!

I like the way you think Ethan! Maybe Jon Berry could put together one of his excellent videos advertising the trip? There will be a TV at the weekend tailgates too, at this point only for highlights, previously played games and such, so we could run the video on that?

I'm trying to figure out how we can have chartered coaches for the trip for the poorer folks. They would probably have to leave Friday night and get there Saturday morning. Potentially leave Sunday morning and get back late? It's a 16 hour trip....

Last year Van sorted a discounted flight package to RSL for 20 people maybe this year make it 50 on a flight, i second everything you just said ethan, but LARS cant get a 100 together for an away game unless its the mls cup final, they can get maybe 30 tops, possibly 50 to san jose, thats one of the reasons they dont particularly wanna go to the same away venue as us, because not only do most of there main players want fuck all to do with us, they also dont like being overshadowed by us taking far more numbers, it highlights they aint the biggest group anymore and knocks their pride, harsh but true.

Coaches are to slow, and your stuck with the driver its hire cars or vans.
