LARS had about 30 tops at portland the rest were just galaxy fans who tagged along, we cant get 250 ACB peeps to go up to portland but we could get a 100 regulars possibly and maybe another 100 galaxy fans who might show and stand in the corner with us, oh and nothing wrong with being an optimist because one day galaxy will be taking big numbers up to portland.

Just catching up on this thread.
San Jose memorial trip for James. Excellent idea, consider it DONE!
Portland trip will be the main focus. I am going to reserve 100 seats with Jet Blue. I used them for RSL, the awesome thing about Jet blue is you can put down a $50 deposit and pay the balance of your flight 2 weeks prior to departure (some time frame of that sorts)
I will have travel info out for away games by early February or sooner. JUST IN TIME FOR TAX RETURNS! haha
I have plans to incorporate Jon Berry's talents in just the fashion mentioned in an earlier post.
I'm telling you THIS WILL BE OUR BEST YEAR YET!Last edited by Vanessa Attaks; 01-06-2012 at 11:57 AM.

It will be worth the price of the flight ticket just to see the faces of the other passengers on the plane if a 100 of us roll up for the jet blue flight. ha ha

Love the James Memorial Trip idea, ans James would've too!
Super down for Portland too!
The RSL trip last year so many people flew and several drove too, it was awesome! I hope we can get that many or more for Portland!
As Vanny mentioned, the Jet Blue flights were perfect, it was awesome that you didn't have to pay all at once to reserve your spot too!
STOKED FOR 2012 !!!!!!

The flight deposit thing would be so beneficial for many people and can possibly get more to go just on that aspect. Great job Van!! I really hope we can get at least 100 peeps to go to Portland. We need to advertise the crap of it and using Jon Berry's talents for video promos will be a huge help!!

Mr Berry will forever regret producing that oscar winning ACB clip as his work is now in demand as it never has been, unfortunately ACB clips dont put bread on the table and the fella has to make a living, between his bizzy social calender and building his business empire i hope he has time to do the occasional ACB clip cos the last one blew everybody's socks off.
Lets be honest Galaxys best away support numberswise was the 4 coaches that the FO. put on up to oakland stadium against SJ a few years back, our traveling support doesnt match up with the galaxys position as the second best supported team in the MLS, THIS NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED, this jetblue flight idea is great and obviously the serious galaxy fan who isnt tied up with an SG should be encouraged to come along, hell i wouldnt even disagree with openly inviting LARS peeps to join the show via the big soccerboards or whatever, some of the more enlightened members may be interested and it shows we are open to any "GENUINE" end of animosity between the groups, or am i living in dreamland for their part. Anyway whatever, i will be in portland and i will have my drinking helmet on. ha ha"Conjunctivitis.com - that's a site for sore eyes".

If we do Portland, it'd be a LOT cheaper to fly Jet Blue out of Long Beach...$99. vs the $250 y'all are quoting...
piquant
Learn it. Love it.

What Eric mentioned about non-SG supporters is dead on. The kindly folks at MLS have given us a ton of games in March and April, and that means we have plenty of time to get the word out. Once Vanessa gets things set up I'll print up some brochures that we can pass out around the stadium.
Another point to consider is the tickets in Portland. We need to get with the Timbers FO early with an estimate of how many will be coming so they can save tickets for us. They're obsessed with their consecutive sellout streak and try to sell all the tickets early. If we're going to be more than 100 we need to let them know.

In the torrance marriot at the mls final weekend, i was talking to this older distinguished english gentleman who had emigrated to houston and was a serious dynamo fan, we chatted about the logistics of away support due to the size of the USA, and i explained the ACB do SJ every year and then target 1 other venue. He had just been to kansas for the houston playoff game which he said was well worth a visit but said Portland blows every venue away and is the number 1 venue by far in the MLS, I found this post on a portland site from him.
[I've had the good fortune to be able to attend Dynamo away games at every stadium in the US and Canada with the exception of San Jose, Columbus, and Salt Lake.
I was impressed with Seattle, but Portland by far has the best atmosphere and the supporters are welcoming of visiting fans and fine representatives for their team and City.
The North end reminded me of games of yesteryear in the EPL - you folks have set the bar so high, that I think it will be a long time before other MLS team SG's can achieve that kind of atmosphere. I look forward to the time when every MLS team will have that kind of support. I have been using google earth to research and walk around the area, its very quaint and scenic, reminds me of Bristol and theres fooken pubs everywhere.ha haLast edited by harry callahan; 01-07-2012 at 08:37 AM.
