I know MLS terms are never disclosed but is Buddle "too expensive" to bench? Trust me, I'm not on Team Barrett, but some kind of remixing has to happen here.
Personally (maybe because I'm delusional) I do think we are on the mend, BUT if we keep playing like this, my big fear is that we'll win a string of games and head into "late summer collapse" territory.
I'm not putting everything on Buddle (much like no one should put everything on Gonzales) but some change is good. Shhooooot, don't get me started about how they shipped JPA across the hall when he wasn't working out.
I still cry about that sometimes...

Oh Flobo... You're just pissed about JPA getting moved still. But you do have a point. Everyone is still euphoric about Buddle. Everyone just needs to realize that we're essentially in rebuild mode. We have a lack of connecting between the groups even though they're working well together.... Meh. At least it was only 1-0
Josh, that's me! (apparently... I like being redundant =P)

Did the Galaxy even field a midfield today? Pathetic. The good news is that AJ+Meyers+Saunders looked pretty good. Franklin and Juninho continue to be HUGE disappointments. I've been a Buddle apologist to date, and to be fair, neither he nor Keane were getting any service at all. But Barrett did appear to lift the team. Still, it's the middle of the park where the problems lie. I wonder if Cienfuegos might be enticed to come out of retirement.
I guess limiting the damage to only one goal this week was improvement. But while the earlier losses felt at least a little bit unlucky, with shots off the post and all, this felt like a total shellacking.California Pete

Some positives:
- Defense looked better
- Meyer had a good game
- Saunders had a couple of good saves
- Donovan returned
I still have no idea how the team wasn't able to get a shot on goal....frustrating. It looked like Buddle/Keane made the same runs at times, interfering with each other. Then Barrett came in and LA got 2 corner kicks, and that's about it.....

nope, I agree with you. There is no excuse. Aside from Meyer/Boyens stepping in, the rest of the squad is the same we used last year (with Buddle/Barrett replacing each other during games). Yes, losing Omar sucks, but by now Bruce should have figured out a solution, we can't go into every game saying "Well, it would help if we had the best defender in the league"..of course it would! but he's not available now and he won't be available for a while. And will having Leonardo back help? Who knows, the problem isn't Meyer/Boyens every game we've played..the backline hasn't been as consistent as they were last year, everyone has been making mistakes and other teams have capitalized.

We need a rep system for this forum...screw it, 10 points to Gryffindor!!!
Oh yeah and we sucked. Has someone checked that we have the real Juninho and Buddle? They could very well be strangers in Scooby Doo-type masks?
Bright side. Meyer looked better. Good enough that we don't have to throw Leo in there as soon as he can walk.“I fell in love with football as I was later to fall in love with women: suddenly, inexplicably, uncritically, giving no thought to the pain or disruption it would bring with it.” -- Nick Hornby, Fever Pitch

Let it be known that I just deleted an essay of a post as I soon realized that the only thing that it essentially said was, "We really suck this year." There's no reason for it. We only have one position that has changed, and despite Omar's presence (or lack thereof) it shouldn't be THIS big of a miss. Our mentality has changed. Maybe we're resting on our laurels? Whatever it is, Bruce needs to inspire the team, but more than anything, OUR TEAM NEEDS TO PLAY WITH PRIDE AND SOME FUCKING SELF BELIEF AND CONFIDENCE. We're the defending champions. Play like it.

Agreed. It is time for a major shake up, sit Franklin, sit Juninho, sit Buddle. At this point our Academy kids deserve a chance, anyone with some fucking passion! Effort like we've seen the past 5 weeks will get us killed against Portland at home.
And losing to anyone from Cascadia at home will just launch a new wave unfounded arrogance through the northwest & really leave us with a mountain to climb!
USA ain't nothing to f*** with!

A nights sleep and i've calmed down hopefully i am now a bit more rational, its early season, we have problems, bruce needs to sort it out, thats what he is paid for, cos the rest of the football world cant fathom how the MLS champions can become so poor so quickly. Beckham aint my favourite person but we need him back in the team or an equal quality replacement.
